Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Upload Your Bill(ABN [insert ABN]) (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, sells and protects your personal information. It is designed to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Please read this carefully. By uploading a bill, providing your details, or using our service, you consent to your personal information being handled — including being disclosed to and sold to third parties, and used for marketing — as described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What we collect

  • Your electricity bill and its contents — including your name, address, electricity account number, NMI, meter and tariff details, usage data and charges.
  • Contact details — such as your email address (and phone number or other details if you provide them).
  • Technical and usage data — such as device, browser, IP address, and how you interact with our website (via analytics and cookies).

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you upload a bill, complete a form, or contact us, and automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website.

3. How we use it

  • To read your bill and generate your personalised energy report;
  • To connect you with solar and battery installers and other partners;
  • To market our own and third parties' products and services to you (see section 5);
  • To operate, improve and secure our service;
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

4. Who we share and sell your information to

We share and sell your personal information to third parties. This includes:

  • Solar and battery installers, who may use it to contact you, prepare quotes and market their services to you;
  • Other third parties, including marketing partners and data buyers, who may contact you with offers;
  • Service providers who help us run our business (such as hosting, email, AI processing and analytics providers);
  • A purchaser of our business — if we sell, merge or transfer all or part of our business or assets, your personal information may be transferred to the buyer as part of that transaction.

Some of these parties may contact you directly. Once your information has been disclosed to or sold to a third party, that party's handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policy, not ours.

5. Marketing and your consent

By using our service you consent to receiving marketing communications (including by email, SMS and phone) from us and from the third parties we share or sell your information to. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message we send, or by emailing us at privacy@uploadyourbill.com.au. Opting out of our messages does not automatically opt you out of messages from third parties we have already shared your information with — you may need to contact them directly.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers and partners may store or process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

7. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. We keep your information for as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations.

8. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing privacy@uploadyourbill.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. Note that information already shared with or sold to third parties may continue to be held by them.

9. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and analytics tools to understand how our website is used and to improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Children

Our service is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

11. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us at privacy@uploadyourbill.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the “last updated” date shown above.
